MoU AGREED BETWEEN ABASYN UNIVERSITY, AND (SCCI) NWFP, PESHAWAR FOR DEVLOPING AND STRENGTHENING LINKAGES BETWEEN INSUTRY AND ACADEMIA

In order to bridge the gap between industry and academia under the university-industry linkages and to extend cooperation, Abasyn University, Peshawar and Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) enter into formal statement in the form of memorandum of understanding (MOU).

For the promotion of linkages between Academia & Industry, both the parties agreed to assist each other to develop, strengthen and implement programs and initiatives that will lead to the establishment, sustainability and growth of the industry in the region.

SCCI agreed to facilitate the students/research scholars of Abasyn University, Peshawar, to carry out their internship/short-term projects in various industries. SCCI will also facilitate the graduates of Abasyn University, Peshawar in finding employment opportunities through circulation of their CVs among the industrial members. Similarly the SCCI will coordinate various industrial trips to the local Industrial Estate (Jamrud Road & Kohat Road) arranged by the various departments of Abasyn University, Peshawar.

SCCI agreed to facilitate various research projects carried out by the faculty members, students/scholars, or both, involving practical research in the industrial sector which will be utilized in the public interest, provided that the financial obligations, if any will be decided in advance before carrying out joint research/training projects.

Under the agreement Abasyn University, Peshawar will provide both human resource and laboratory facilities for conducting research to facilitate knowledge building in the specialized fields of mutual interest. Abasyn University will also provide access to SCCI to use/copy the written material/software/research documents in the library of the university pertaining to business, trade and commerce.

Both the parties also agreed to arrange joint training workshops, seminars and conferences as they may deem fit. Scientists from Abasyn University will work with SCCI on the projects aimed at socio-economic uplift of the region and the country.  Abasyn University and SCCI will jointly prepare and carry out research projects in various industrial fields provided that financial obligations, if any, will be decided in advance before carrying out research projects.

Both the parties agreed to work for such benefits as improved technology, materials, machinery, process, design and techniques occurring or arising from their cooperative effort.  The same may be used by both parties with due recognition of each party’s contribution.
